Ghana Djembe Project - 7" X 16"
Hand-made in the jungles of Ghana from dead-fall trees by expert craftsmen whose techniques have been honed by generations, the rough-carved shells are transported to the local village where they are given decorative carving. Naturally-tanned goatskins are layered between the tension rings and tuned by hand-tightening the rope that threads around the drum.
Drumming has a widespread and profound tradition in West Africa. These djembes are steeped with the tradition where a child is given a drum to mark the passage to adulthood.
Traditional African and modern fusion music both embrace the rich and complicated tones that djembes produce. Experience the power of a drum circle or grove to its addition to your regular group. Discover where you can go with one of these high quality instruments.
